Explore how to capture elements and details to create a sense of place that will showcase the beauty within a garden. Discuss composition, color, and light and learn how backgrounds can either isolate or interact with the subject. Learn ways to capture the graceful lines, curves, patterns and textures within individual flowers to create ethereal floral portraits.
This workshop starts with a presentation on photographic techniques and concludes with a garden walk to practice these principles. Both digital cameras and mobile phone techniques will be considered. Bring the camera of your choice for the walk.
Elle Colquitt, the presenter and guide for this class, is a Master Gardener, visual artist, and author whose work spans garden and abstract photography, published travel journals, and sculptural textile vessels, blending her deep horticultural knowledge and lifelong love of exploration and fiber art into painterly images and richly textured, one-of-a-kind creations.
