Fill out your garden this spring with offerings from the Garden’s Spring Plant Sale. Every purchase directly benefits our ongoing efforts to keep Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum thriving and accessible to our community. The sale features perennials propagated at the Garden by our horticulture team, as well as plants from local partners and growers. A wonderful variety of native perennials, ornamental shrubs, and herbaceous plants will be available for purchase.
For the native plant enthusiasts, we have much to offer, including:
'Blackhawks' Big Bluestem, the 2026 Perennial Plant of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association (pictured left)
Other native grasses, including 'Apache Rose' and 'Northwind' Switchgrass
If your site is dry or you have a rock garden, we have a good collection of Manfreda virginica, Native False Aloe, started from seed by KBGA staff.
Several unique and interesting conifers: from low-growing drought tolerant junipers, such as 'Angelica Blue', to the fascinating Fernspray Hinoki Cypress.
A wonderful selection of shrubs for every type of garden, including dappled sun-loving Korean Azaleas, sun-loving and drought-tolerant Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac, and stately, shade-tolerant, low-growing Duke Garden Yew.
For the plant collectors, we have 'Mariken' Bushy Ginkgo, 'Howell's Dwarf' Tigertail Spruce (pictured left), the dwarf Tenzan Japanese Cedar (tops out at 12"x12"!).
Perennials for every situation, including 'Lemon Love' Heuchera, the iconic shade grass 'Aureola' Japanese Forest Grass, 'Back in Black' Stonecrop, and much more.
