Volunteer FAQ

First you will select the type of volunteering you wish to participate in:
Regular Volunteer
Event Volunteer
Volunteer Group
You will then fill out an application with your areas of interest, skills, availability, and contact information. You will also agree to the Garden’s volunteer policies, complete a liability waiver and optional photo release.
We Once you have been added to our system, you will have access to a volunteer portal that allows you to select shifts and sign in/out on the day of you volunteer.

All volunteers are strongly encouraged to bring a hat, a water bottle, sunscreen, and to wear sturdy, comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes for working in the garden.
If you have personal garden gloves or tools you wish to use, please feel free to bring them. All personal tools must be thoroughly washed prior to use on garden property.

Story Thyme volunteers will use the parking lot which is accessible from the garden entrance at 2649 Boyds Bridge Pike.
Garden volunteer locations will vary depending upon the day and task. Please check your shift location on your Better Impact dashboard.
Garden docents will park at the lot across the street from the Visitor Center, located at 2743 Wimpole Ave.

In the case of severe weather, all scheduled volunteers will be notified of a cancelled work day.
